12 U Softball
Information for the 2024 season will be available at the beginning of January 2024
**Information from your team coach will be coming within the next couple weeks. We hope to start outdoor practice by mid April.
There are 2 levels of play within 12U Softball
12U Tier One—opportunity for girls ages 11 and 12 by 12/31/21
Team placement awarded upon evaluation results. This level offers a higher level of competition and time commitment for players and families. Additional fees are assessed to players of these teams for tournaments, league fees and uniforms. League will be Big West
**Season: Games start 5/1; a minimum of 2 weekly games plus 2 weekend tournaments per team
**Delano-hosted tournament at 4-plex June 3rd-4th
**Buffalo Tournament June 10th-11th
**State qualifier June 24th-25th
**State tournament July 8th-9th (if your team makes it)
12U Tier Two
Teams represent DYBSA within the Crow River league. This level offers a continued focus on softball skills through practice and live game situations.
Season: Games start beginning of June and will be on Monday or Wednesdays and practice will be on the other day. End of the year Tournament is July 15th
Attendance at evaluations is strongly recommended for accurate team placement at this age level.
USA Softball Age Requirements
USA Softball is the governing organization for Delano Youth Softball. At the end of the 2023 season, USA Softball adjusted the age ranges for all softball levels. The chart for the 2024 season is listed below.
The change in age ranges will primarily affect athletes with birthdays between September 1 through December 31. Under the old age requirements, this group would have moved to the next level of play, but due to the changes implemented by USA Softball, they will remain at the level they played in last season (2023), depending on where their birthday falls in the chart below.
