14U-18U Softball

The DYBSA Board is thrilled to announce a co-operative partnership with the Revolution softball program for our 14U and older Softball teams.  Like DYBSA, Revolution is a community-based program located in  Rockford.

The Revolution was started in 2015 and has fielded teams for 14U, 16U, and 18U at the Gold, A, and B level of play.  With the new partnership between DYBSA and Revolution, softball players within the Delano, Wayzata, Plymouth and Rockford communities will continue to have opportunities to play association-based softball beyond 12U.

The landscape for travel softball for the 14U and up levels has dramatically changed in the past few years with the rise of club ball. We, and many other associations at this age level, are challenged with fielding teams on a consistent basis based on limited numbers of available players.  Through board discussions, we have decided that partnering with other local communities experiencing similar issues is a logical and mutually beneficial approach to ensure our girls have adequate accessibility to play softball at a high level as they get older.

What is the benefit of our partnership?

  • Ability to form “like-skilled” teams.
    • Gold, A, and B level teams possible
    • Keep ALL girls playing longer
    • Entice committed players to stay in the organization
  • Experience, paid, non-parent coaching.
  • Lower cost compared to full club programs means more can afford to keep playing
  • Multi-Sport participation ENCOURAGED
    • Less year-round commitment while still having access to high level instruction
  • Build new relationships
  • Increased pool of resources (facilities, board members, volunteers, equipment)  and training opportunities (clinics, focused training)

The partnership will begin with the 2022 season.  Revolution tryouts will be help in early August.  Exact dates will be communicated in the very near future.

Our greatest hope is every girl that wants to play travel softball knows there is a place to play.  If there are questions please reach out to any of the Softball Board Members listed below.  We have put together a list of Questions and Answers that can be found posted HEREWe will be holding an information session for parents who have players who will qualify for 14U or above in the 2022 season.  The date and time will be communicated in the near future.
